As you probably know by now, we here at Dominion Payroll are serious about our work; but we also like to have fun. We are lucky enough in our Richmond office to have a ping pong table that many of our employees frequently play on. Ping pong is a great game to have in the office because it helps promote strategic thinking, along with increased alertness and concentration. With these many benefits in mind, our activities committee came up with the idea of our first-ever Dominion Payroll Ping Pong Tournament! From our executive team to our interns, all were encouraged and invited to join in on the competition.

During the months of May and June, every few days a match was set up, and everyone was invited to watch and cheer on their fellow employees. After many hard-fought games, it was time for the moment we were all waiting for, the final match set between Max “The Great” and Ryan “Tagg You’re It.” You could feel the excitement in the air on the day of the final match. The tournament was set up in our Community Room for all to watch while we enjoyed our usual Friday lunch together. Ryan began the game by serving the ball to Max. The ping pong ball flew across the table with lightning speed; the game was on.

As it continued, cheers, laughter, and the occasional “oohs” and “aahs” filled the room. Each round showcased the sheer determination and sportsmanship of both players that define our Dominion Payroll culture. After many nail-biting rounds, it all came down to the final serve. Max swung at the ball, and it bounced perfectly on the corner of the table. Ryan tried his best to dive for the ball but was unsuccessful, resulting in a victory for Max! The room erupted in cheers and celebration as our FIRST Dominion Payroll Ping Pong Tournament Champion was crowned! Susan, Dominion Payroll’s Culture Specialist, commented, “Max is not only a champion when it comes to the game of ping pong, he defines our Rise Above core value on a daily basis. You will find him not only being the best version of himself but also encouraging the rest of us to do the same.”

Congratulations to Max “The Great” and to our runner-up Ryan Tagg, who both showed perseverance and grit throughout the entire competition. We can’t wait to see what next year’s competition will bring!
