Spring has officially sprung here at Dominion Payroll! We’ve greeted the warmer weather with a flurry of activity. From multiple volunteer opportunities to fun activities around the office, our staff is engaged and making an impact in the communities we love.
In early April, our Virginia office sent six volunteers to Finance Park, Junior Achievement’s financial literacy laboratory housed in the newly developed, state-of-the-art Libby Mill library in Richmond, Virginia. Members of our staff spent half a day helping Caroline County high school students learn the basics of creating a household budget. Using a fun and interactive program, we guided these students as they took on adult personas complete with careers, student loan debt, and even children to care for.
“The kids learned lessons that will help them for the rest of their life. I think all our volunteers walked away with some valuable insights too!” said Isabelle Tobe, Marketing Coordinator at Dominion Payroll.
You may not always think of power tools and work gloves when you consider what goes into processing your payroll correctly and on time, but we are working to change that! A group of our volunteers spent an afternoon at The Doorways stripping old water-fed heat pumps of scrap metal and reusable parts. The Doorways provides lodging and support to patients and their families in times of medical crisis. Our team is proud to support their mission with elbow grease and few hours of their volunteer time off!
In honor of Earth Day, on April 22nd a crew of Dominion Payroll volunteers descended on the streets of Scott’s Addition near our Richmond headquarters to collect trash and tidy up. After just an hour of work, we managed to fill over five large trash bags showing that just a little effort can have a big impact.
It’s not all work (and volunteer opportunities) and no play around here though! Our second annual, adults-only, chocolate-and-booze Easter egg hunt around the office was a great success! A special thank you to our Activities Committee for the work they put into making this event so much fun.
