It’s the most wonderful time of the year ☀️ 😎☀️
The kids are out of school, the highway is filled with traveling vacationers, and the pool is overflowing with floaties - you get the picture. How can we possibly focus on the tasks at hand? Well, this is where employee engagement strategies step in and help us maintain our productivity.
Here are a few strategies that Dominion Payroll uses to avoid that summer sun-burn out!
Create Fun Team Building Activities
One of Dominion Payroll's most popular ways to create a positive workplace culture is by scheduling “Spirit Days”. They provide a fun and informal setting for employees to get to know each other better, which can translate into improved teamwork and communication back in the office.
Summer-Themed Activities and Events
At DP, we love planning events that are fitting for the season! From Junteenth cookouts, to tickets for our local minor league baseball games, to Shark Week treats - we invest time in crafting fun and timely events for our employees to engage in.
One our most popular events is our Office Olympics. We assign folks from different departments to compete in this week-long event to win Gold! With a new activity each day, these individuals have a chance to problem-solve and bond with colleagues outside their departments.
Finally, we find time for us to connect with each other and our clients through dedicated Happy Hours. You would be amazed at the increased collaboration, camaraderie, and friendship that can build over a few drinks and nibbles!
Encourage Social Responsibility
Last and perhaps most importantly to DP, we take advantage of the summer months to encourage team/group participation within our community. Recently, we’ve had teams volunteer to help with landscaping at a local middle school, volunteering at a food bank, and working with Keep Virginia Beautiful by clearing the streets of litter.
Do you have a remote workforce? Well, we’ve got that covered too.
Our teams recently completed a virtual “Wordle” competition.
These efforts show employees that their organization values their well-being, which fosters a more committed and enthusiastic workforce!
