Not one to put together an event to be forgotten, “The Dave’s” chose Pippin Hill in Charlottesville, VA to host the annual DP Holiday Party on December 6th.  The night, in short, was amazing.  The DP team was treated to a night of Pippin Hill’s breathtaking views and a wonderful menu, all to the bluegrass tunes of Jackass Flats in the background.  “The night couldn’t have been any better,” said Dave Gallagher, president at DP. “We’ve had a record-breaking year, and certainly reaching a new level with our customers is not met without challenges.  Our team has risen above them, and I couldn’t be more thankful.  This night is for them, and I thank Pippin Hill and Jackass Flats for putting together a night of celebration and relief for the hardest working people I’ve ever known.”

We all thank Pippin Hill and Jackass Flats for an event that just can’t be topped.  A little bit about each:

Pippin Hill Farm is Charlottesville’s newest and most comprehensive boutique winery & vineyard, created in an authentic environment that is distinguished by a sustainable viticulture program, purpose-designed event venues, and landscaped gardens and courtyards overlooking a pristine valley.

The art of entertaining characterizes our event’s design expertise, cuisine, and services offering professional capabilities to handle major weddings as well as private family celebrations.

With a sweeping panorama and foundations rooted in the past, Pippin Hill Farm reflects its Virginia agrarian essence while offering a fresh interpretation of the classic winery. It is envisioned as a collaboration of artisans – winemakers, local farm producers, artists, and event designers.

Pippin Hill Farm features a unique blend of wine tasting and entertaining experiences, designed to enable you to ‘come home’ for your special day.

Jackass Flats began their journey as a bluegrass band chasing the scene up and down the east coast: country festivals in the middle of nowhere, bars, dives, late nights, busking in the cities, life in a van–these things will leave you with stories to tell and that’s exactly what Jackass Flats did; releasing two acclaimed albums of original songwriting: “Purgatory Mountain” and “Greetings From Jackass Flats”. The boys kept the old van, but soon found themselves playing the region’s premiere stages and festivals.
As Jackass Flats closes in on a decade of existence, they’ve expanded their line up to include drums, keys, and pedal steel–propelling their sound from string band to “full tilt Americana juggernaut”. With so many instruments at their disposal, the typical set finds the band everywhere from bluegrass, rockabilly, honky tonk, country, western swing, all with the energy and edge that has made the Jackass Flats show a must see.
In June of 2011 the boys released their album, “Rusty Feeling.” The album was recorded and produced by Bobby Read (Bruce Hornsby Band, Keller Williams). An album whose songs range from raucous and rowdy bluegrass, to the textured and melodic sounds of progressive (non-nashville) country.  Visit them at www.reverbnation.com/jackassflats
