There’s never a good day for snow and sleet on the East Coast. Naturally, those younger than 18 would argue that statement all day, but at DP we have been nailed several times on our busiest days of the week. This past Wednesday, for example, was one of those days. Not only are most payrolls processed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but Friday the 15th was also payday for most of our semi-monthlies!
Knowing that deliveries on Thursday for both UPS and our Courier were going to be a real challenge, we started asking clients to process as early as possible that Wednesday so that we could personally deliver to them that same afternoon. To accomplish that we mustered our entire sales force, our marketing team, and anyone else not involved in processing to hit the roads around 2:30 and hand-deliver payrolls to our clients, many of whom were closing early in anticipation of the weather. We even delivered to some of our clients HOMES as an added convenience because some were closing so early.
It’s that extra effort that I love to see around the office that usually gets glanced over but certainly not forgotten. Our company thrives on being “local,” and we stand by that word in every way we can. Being local sets us apart from so many that can’t offer the same logistical advantages that we do. If someone submitted their payroll erroneously one day and didn’t find out until the delivery a few days later, we hear about the situation and have the capability to immediately reprint and deliver that same day.
